Company Background

Founded in 2006 by Emanuel Kronitz and Negev Nosatzki in the Republic of Ireland, AvaTrade is an award-winning online broker that offers CFD trading on a variety of instruments, including the most popular cryptocurrencies. The company has a global presence and is regulated in different regions by bodies like the Central Bank of Ireland, the ASIC (Australian Securities and Investments Commission), Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA), and the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) in South Africa. It is also compliant with Shariah law for Islamic traders. There are very few crypto CFD brokers more widely regulated than AvaTrade.

AvaTrade has more than 300,000 clients across the globe. It offers excellent customer service, with 16 offices and over 400 employees around the world. AvaTrade has won more than 100 awards in many countries worldwide.

Unique Features

AvaTrade offers both crypto/crypto and crypto/fiat trading. What I liked the most is their learning centre, which has a wide range of educational material, including articles, how-to guides, tutorials, step-by-step explanations of platform usage, and useful tips. They have a variety of proprietary platforms.

AvaTrade’s platforms integrate easily with DupliTrade and ZuluTrade for copy trading, and traders can ask questions of their chosen mentors and learn new trading strategies. AvaTrade also offers the AvaSocial mobile app for social trading.

AvaTrade allows the integration of to automate your trading strategies. You can use your own strategy or choose from the large library of tested and proven strategies. AvaTrade offers AvaProtect for risk management. You can also choose Guardian Angel, which is a free trading support tool that gives you feedback on your actions. This helped me identify where I was going wrong and helped improve my decision-making technique.

What is the Downside of AvaTrade?

The biggest downside of AvaTrade is that the inactivity fee is on the high side. However, this is easily avoided by not letting your account fall inactive.

Trading Fees

You can trade crypto CFDs without worrying about any commission or additional fee being levied by AvaTrade. They are transparent in their charges and offer quite tight spreads for crypto CFD trading.

AvaTrade does not charge any fees for opening or maintaining the account if you continue trading. There are no charges for making deposits or for withdrawals into your bank account, except for what your bank or other relevant third-party service may charge you.

There is an inactivity fee of $50, €50 or £50 per quarter, depending on the base currency of your account. This is levied if your account remains inactive for more than three consecutive months. Following a year of inactivity, they charge an annual administration fee of $100, €100 or £100.

AvaTrade also charges an overnight fee on open crypto positions, which is a percentage of your open position nominal amount and is charged on those positions that remain open after 22:00 GMT.

Leverage Fees

AvaTrade offers different levels of leverage for different cryptos and applicable differently by region of client residence. AvaTrade charges overnight fees rather than direct fees on leveraged positions – you will pay no additional fee if you do not have any positions open at 5pm New York time.
